Jordan Sears

Biography
Jordan Sears' (b. 1993, US) work points to the power structures embedded within the refined mechanics of consumerism. Working from product photography, Sears treats the image as a system of power, constructing smooth, controlled surfaces that exists between seduction and disruption.

Her paintings are defined by a process of extraction - through color, cropping, and scale, Sears isolates fragments of bodies and garments drawn from the polished vernacular of advertising and fashion. By translating these images into the slow, dense materiality of oil paint, she suspends their circulation, exposing the visual strategies through which desire is created and distributed.

Jordan Sears holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and is currently studying her MFA in Richmond, Virginia, US (exp. 2027). Her work has been included in exhibitions such as The Shape of A Second, Painters Painting Paintings, US (2025), Gift, IRL gallery, New York, US (2025) and 100 degrees, United Colors, Kansas City, US (2024). She lives and works in Richmond, VA, US.
