Brigade at Enter Art Fair 2025

Enter Art Fair 2025 is now open, and the gallery is pleased to present a group presentation with works by Petra Cortright, Ken Taylor Reynaga, Davide Hjort Di Fabio and Birk Bjørlo.

Petra Cortright

Petra Cortright's (b. 1986, US) work is centered on the creation and manipulation of digital files, redefining contemporary painting by seamlessly bridging the digital and physical realms. Her compositions exist just as naturally on a canvas as they do on a Times Square billboard.

Using consumer and corporate software, Cortright distorts found imagery, continuously over layering with digital brushstrokes, crafting compositions that depict an abstract natural world - blossoming fields, dark clouds, and endless seascapes, all placed within multiple frames or architectural grids. These intricate digital works are rendered as physical works, printed on anodized aluminum, canvas, and glossy paper, resulting in works which appear both complex and dynamic, but which settle as harmonious, simple and aesthetic - true to Cortright's insistence that beauty itself can be the objective.

Birk Bjørlo

Birk Bjørlo (b. 1986) explores painting as a space where rhythm, composition, and plane coexists on equal terms. For Bjørlo, a painting is never just an image but a state where possibilities take form. Within this space, traditional hierarchies between abstraction and figuration dissolve, merging into a unified project. The works unfold as inner landscapes, at once open and closed, where presence and absence converge. In Bjørlo's practice, the painted surface extends beyond itself, reflecting back on the very process of its becoming.

Davide Hjort Di Fabio

Davide Hjort Di Fabio (b. 1990, Italy) sees sculpture as an extension and expansion of the human body. Often made from materials such as ceramics, metal, and plastic, the sculptures' abstract and organic forms become a metaphor for a fluid and transformative identity. The sculptures have a performative expression that is often activated through other media such as video, performance, sound, and photography. In his practice, Davide also examines the representation of queerness through time by weaving together historical, political, and personal narratives.

Ken Taylor Reynaga

Ken Taylor Reynaga's (b. 1990, US) work emerges from the quotidian intimacies of people's lives. For Ken, these seemingly private moments - of significance only to those who experience them - are where we confront the broader contradictions of being human. Born in Southern California but raised in Bakersfield, Taylor Reynaga grew up in a place where newly arrived migrants live alongside people who either by choice or necessity settled in the agricultural hub of California's Central Valley. This region, in Taylor Reynaga's practice, is envisioned as a new frontier forged by narratives of rebirth and transformation at the edges of society. The promises of different worlds at the margin however are always accompanied by difficult experiences. For Taylor Reynaga, this becomes most pertinent when considering the ways we grapple with our pasts and our identities.
