Brigade is pleased to announce Cuba, Año Cero, a solo exhibition by Alejandro González (b. 1974, Havana) opening 22 October.
The exhibition brings together two defining bodies of work, Re-construcción (2012) and Mega Proyectos (2014), in which González turns his camera to the architecture of ideological ambition in Cuba.
The title is borrowed from Roberto Rossellini's Germania Anno Zero (1948), a film shot among the ruins of post-war Berlin. Transposed to present-day Cuba, "year zero" describes a condition that marks both an ending and an unwritten beginning.
