BRIGADE is pleased to announce an upcoming solo exhibition by Coline Marotta, opening end of May 2025. The exhibition will present a new series of paintings and works on paper, marking Marotta's third solo show with the gallery. This will be the first exhibition presented in our newly renovated and expanded space at Vesterbrogade 75.
Coline Marotta (b. 1991, France) paints not from life, but from memory, layering fragments of fleeting thoughts into compositions that exist between recollection and reverie.
Her malleable figures drift through domestic spaces and gaze toward infinite horizons, suspended in a state of quiet contemplation. In hues of ruby reds, midnight blues, and bright yellows, Marotta's paintings echo the chromatic intensity of Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, weaving together abstraction and figuration with her own contemporary sensibility.
Coline Marotta received her MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Galeria Acappella (Napoli), Mine Project (Hong Kong), The Tennis Elbow (New York), and Public Gallery (London). Her work is included in the collection of the Danish Arts Foundation, as well as significant private collections. Marotta lives and works in Copenhagen.
We look forward to sharing more.
