Garrett Pruter US, b. 1987
Biography
Garrett Pruter's interdisciplinary practice investigates themes of memory, absence, repression, and desire. Using painting, photography, video, sound, and sculpture, Pruter exhumes traces of consciousness and desire lying dormant within the archive of imagery that we collectively create and discard through processes of erasing, liquifying and re-materialising existing narratives to explore hidden meaning and inherent understandings.
Pruter holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2020) and a BFA from Parsons School of Design (2010). His recent exhibitions include The Birds, Trafalgar Avenue (London), Picture House, Brigade, Cacotopia, Annka Kultys Gallery (London), Generation Loss, Galerie Virginie Louvet (Paris), Traces, Judith Charlies Gallery (New York), and Scripted Spaces, Martos Gallery (Los Angeles).
